| 内容記述 | This paper discusses the clause structures of Japanese subject and non-subject honorifics, collectively referred to as referent honorifics. Ishikawa（2007）assumed that the lexical representation of the Japanese honorific predicate contains pragmatic information about human relationships, and that the sentence has a bi-clausal structure consisting of two clauses. This study demonstrates that there are three types of counterexamples to Ishikawa’s lexical analysis and two types of linguistic data showing that the referent-honorific sentence has a mono-clausal rather than a bi-clausal structure, especially for non-subject honorifics. | |||||||||||||
